Venezia court and SPB room

This is rather poor thin paper in fact so you can't get a real watering watercolor here - but it's nice for the little fast sketching. No eraser, no double-lines to avoid the paper tears: a tender challenge then! It's an old VeneZian court with plant pots.

My recent week

Salut! So this week:

1) I noticed two beautiful things one day - a girl adoring rain (while I've been hiding under my umbrella) and italian priest in a catedral on Nevsky. I tried to imprint them in my diary. I shouldn't!! The girl became too long-limbed and the priest faceless/haughty. Ouuh((

2) I bought a book at second-hand bookseller and made 2 pencil lessons

- a hand and an old wood house

3) and finally apples. I never could get an apple in watercolor -- it always appears to be too flat -- and in general unprepossessing. So I painted these ones very fast - to avoid thinking and fears. Hope they reflect it a little

I'll try to get back other week again!

Fontanka River - Fast watercolor

Fast watercolors go right for me, 'cos I'm in time to catch my feelings of this place and this moment.

I'd love to be a master of "veduta" as Francesco Guardi and Canaletto, but it's not only my lack of knack that doesn't allow me to be one -- firstly it's my inability to keep a moment with all these details for a long time.

So just a quick picture - but this way I can preserve the world at that particular point when I see it.

How I read my E-Book

Hi there! I uploaded lots of wise books on my e-book (A dear gift from my daddy -- I adore shopping with my dadd - not because of the things -- because I always love to be with him) and I'm keen to read all them all. I love reading outside - but if I accidentally have my sketchbook in my bag, it's not reading anymore -- it always turns to drawing.

A small courtyard in the cross of two streets that I LOVE! (пересечение Канонерской с Прядильным) -- I passed it running but decided to take a stop and read a chapter -- finally I made a sketch.(I've been so taken with this old tender corner) -- (well, it happens here surely-usually- routinely):

It's a park of Conservatory. The same story -- I plan to read 10 pages of 'Il peccato di Loretta",BUT....

You see?? I'll remain stupid, ignorant and benighted because of my sketchbook!

Diary sketches

Hi friends! I decided to make really FAST Sketches. For max 5 minutes for all 2 pages. It gets too ugly, but let me share it anyway.

So sometimes I stop somewhere and just draw what I see. It was a City Day: a vocal concert in Rumianzev Square (I've been sitting on the stairs with MA under the obelisk and watched around) (you can find me on this sketch then):

Earlier I've made streets around my corner. About 5-6 minutes for each one (then I colored it with pencils in café):

Here - I had to wait for a friend of mine in the Square of Arts, there were people sitting-reading-walking around. I just sketched them after a cursory glance, in a few seconds. Then I halted on Moika embankment and captured this edifice in front, across the river:

Actually it's my first steps in fast-drawing. I stared a couple of weeks ago, on the Strelka (the eastern tip of Basil Island in Petersburg), DerJavin's mansion and Kaninkina square: (but they are too ugly, so I wouldn't show all)............

I love my city for its places and my good-feeling-here.

I hope he will help me become a better painter one day.

Some gesture drawings

I love to draw silly sketches sitting in front of my window with a coffee early morning.

Here are some scraps of paper, my fast fast drawing, I'd say pencil scribbles that I make when I have some short pause.

SN, kinda friend of mine. He's an orchestra conductor and a person with so much histories. By these stories he can make me laugh sometimes -- in fact it's not that easy taking into account my contemptuous look (so sorry 'bout it but that's my foolish nature) and that's why I keep this little friendship with him. We're walking around Petersburgs' rivers and channels

and sitting in some restos (with imaginary angel-cat that we invented)

I drew it in few minutes in my notebook through the other pictures that I've made before so a woman's face wedged here accidentally.

Conservatory

Conservatory where they play Bach and Frank and me, sitting in old classroom with squeaky parquet, spring windows and music sounds around. I came on the lessons in SbP's Conservatory.
